GREEN BAY (NBC 26) — Applications are being accepted through Oct. 31, 2021, for participation in next year's Give BIG Green Bay on February 23 and 24. In the last four years, this community-wide giving day has raised more than $5.5 million for local nonprofits. The Green Bay Packers and the Greater Green Bay Community Foundation will host the fifth year of this event to raise awareness and encourage support of community nonprofits.
"Really getting a strong cross-section of organizations that serve this community is really important to us," said Dennis Buehler, president and CEO of Greater Green Bay Community Foundation. "A big driver behind this program is about letting the public know there are a variety of diverse organizations that serve our community every single day."
During the event, an online giving platform, giveBIGgreenbay.org, provides a way for people to learn more about the work of selected nonprofits and donate, at any level, to causes they champion. The online giving day is designed to provide organizations, representing 11 fields of interest, a platform to tell their story, educate the community about their critical work and reach new donors. In addition, thanks to the Green Bay Packers and other donors, this year’s event will offer a minimum of $250,000 in matching funds and incentives to participating organizations.
"Everyone can be involved in philanthropy and make an impact no matter what the size of the contribution is or the size of the organization, because it really isn't, you know, their budget size or their staff size that defines their impact," Buehler said. "It really is the work they're doing, and we think a platform like this is a great way to get that word out."
Brown County nonprofits are encouraged to apply at giveBIGgreenbay.org. The selection process will ensure participation of a diverse cross-section of impactful organizations serving Brown County residents. Nonprofits selected to participate in Give BIG Green Bay will be notified in January 2022.
